I am beyond excited about the rebranding of Blonde and Something and sharing my journey with you. About a year ago, God put it in my heart to share this little space with Him. My aspiration for this space is to share what God is doing in my life in hopes that you will find encouragement and inspiration during your time here.
I would like to begin by sharing my story, the story about my acceptance and commitment to following Jesus...
It's best if I start with how I was raised... I grew up in a Christian home, went to church, attended small group and went on mission trips and because I did all of these motions I assumed that I was automatically a Christian, automatically saved. But in reality I lived my life how I thought a Christian would up until my senior year of high school. During my senior year, I encountered experiences that did not have the outcome I had planned for. I made a decision to believe in nothing, that there was not a God because I believed that my plan was the best plan for me nothing better. The summer after my graduation was nothing but a spiral downward and for the next three years: I was living the life I wanted to live and no one could tell me otherwise. I went to church twice a year (on Christmas and Easter to sort of please my parents), had an ongoing relationship with a non-believer and was “enjoying” the life I had mapped out for myself.
On Easter of 2013, my path took an unexpected turn... I attended church that morning with my family but instead of zoning out, I was fully engaged and brought to tears realizing the way I had been living was wrong. After this realization, I decided I wanted to become a Christian but had no idea what that truly meant or looked like. A few weeks later, I broke it off with my boyfriend because I knew what was happening within the relationship was not right. But because I did not know where to go from there, I continued to live a life sowing to my own flesh while in search of what a life sown to Christ looked like.
A year later... I decided to go back to school to study fashion merchandising and chose to attend Olivet Nazarene University because they not only had the major I wished to study but the Christian community that I so greatly desired to surround myself with. Within my first year at ONU, I met several new friends who were doing life with Christ. It was evident to me that God was at work in their hearts and found myself with an even bigger desire and hunger to know Him more. Through conversations, reading His word and many prayers, I came to a point of acceptance and surrendered my life to Christ. I believe that I am a sinner and I need a Savior. I believe that God sent His only Son to die on the cross in order to save us from our sins and make our relationship right with Him. My desires were forever changed from that day on and I aspire to do things for His glory, not my own.
Thanks for stopping in!
